Student Checks Out Shakespeare’s ‘First Folio’ from Library
Yesterday, freshman student John Doe reportedly checked out the original edition of Shakespeare’s First Folio for use in his Intro to British Literature class. Doe told reporters he decided to borrow the priceless and irreplaceable treasure of literary scholars everywhere after learning a used copy of Hamlet would cost $13.50 at the University Bookstore.
Doe says he is planning on returning the precious relic through the outdoor book return bin in hopes that the librarians won’t notice the dog-eared pages and ‘go to this page’ messages he wrote for the next reader.
At press time, Doe had not yet finished his assigned reading of Acts I and II of Hamlet, but told reporters he was strongly considering “just using Spark Notes for the rest.”
